Wake, 2014, 183 cm by 121.5 cm, Acrylic and spray paint on linen Dan Withey,WebThe painting ‘Wake’ confronts the subject of mortality in a storm of religious symbols, material possessions, and emblems of renewal. In this picture I have tried to question what comes next, our values and many aspects of religion the result in confusion rather than peace. I have tried to create a sense of upheaval, rather than provide any answers in keeping with the mystery that is death.
